This is what I have to do at work.
I sit working, thinking, being bombarded on all sides by phone, email, and think I have done my best. Then if I take a break I can remember all the details I still need to cover.
My last post did not do justice to what happened today.
While all the other 5th graders were taking their science TAKS test, Annabel spent the day in the 3rd grade classroom with one of my favorite teachers. She had a GREAT day. She learned something. She was admired by the other students who were disappointed to learn she would not be back in the class tomorrow.
But her day started with being called to the principal's office.
According to her, the principal talked to her about what was happening in her class. She was told to come to her any time she needed to, but that she, the principal, could not stop anything the girls were doing. HUH??????
Yes, that is what she told her. That girls were like that and she could not stop them.
She had a couple of other teachers tell her basically the same thing.
I appreciate everyone who left comments about the situation. I will keep you updated.

Her grade placement might be part of the problem. My oldest daughter was placed in the third grade classroom when she came home at 10.5 years old. A child that age who has been in an orphanage is very young...much younger than an American child that age. She did well among the third graders, and it was academically a good placement for her. She is 18 now and a junior in high school. No problems as a result of being placed in a lower grade than her age-mates. I'm not sure what grade Annabel is in (I'm guessing fifth?), but perhaps when you re-enroll her in school this fall, you could have her placed in a lower grade. It might be just what she needs to be successful academically AND socially.
